Travel Guidelines

 

It is important to take certain precautions to assure a successful trip. Most of these precautions are taken care of by Alatur, but some of them must be taken by you.

General


It is useful to always watch out for factors that might change the price of tickets and therefore plan your trip with the best possible cost effectiveness:

  • Keep an eye on any discounts;
  • Check airline procedures on fines for cancellations, changes and reimbursements;
  • Remember to confirm your seats;
  • Print out an e-ticket.


Também é essencial ter sempre em mãos, na hora de fazer a reserva da passagem:

  • Name of passenger;
  • Date of trip;
  • Itinerary;
  • Type of reservation (first class, executive or tourist);
  • Cost center or unit of debit;
  • Name of person responsible for the reservation, telephone and extension number, department and cost center;
  • Airline company (in case of preference);

 

Airports

Keep the following suggestions in mind to avoid surprises in the airports:

  • For domestic flights, get to the airport one hour before estimated departure time.
  • For international flights, get to the airport at least two hours before estimated departure time and do not forget that reservations must be re-confirmed 72 hours prior to departure time.
  • In both cases, you will only pay airport tax that entitles you to full support and safety in airports, which comply with international standards of passenger comfort and safety, and include emergency medical attention in high-traffic points, complaints services and Lost and Found sectors.
  • Brazilian tourists that enter Brazil by air are exempt from tax for clothing and personal items that are compatible in number with the duration and purpose of the trip. They can also purchase up to U$$ 500.00 in the Duty Free Shop.

 

Baggage

Important advice and information on your baggage:

  • For Europe and the USA, passengers are entitled to 02 (two) bulks of up to 32 kilos each, in any service class: first, executive or tourist.
  • For domestic flights, passengers are entitled to 20 kilos, although hand luggage cannot exceed 5 kilos.
  • Baggage rights do not apply for children under 02 years.
  • Excess baggage (above the allowance) is subject to payment of 1% of non-discount ticket price per kilo.
  • Animals are always charged as excess baggage, even if the baggage allowance of the airline company has not been exceeded.

 

Lost or missplaced baggage


At baggage dispatch, the airline attendant will give the passenger a receipt of dispatched baggage indicating the points of departure and arrival, baggage label number, quantity and weight.

All claims for misplaced or damaged baggage should be made immediately to the airline representative or authority present at baggage claim.

Airline companies do not accept claims made at a later time.

To facilitate identification and location of baggage in case of misplacement, the passenger should attach a label on the outside of all baggage with name, full address and telephone number.

Maximum indemnity for total loss of baggage on international flights is US$ 400.00.

 

Prohibited Items

Poisonous agents, liquid fuel, explosives, corrosive, inflammable or oxidant agents and materials that may pose a risk to the safety of passengers or the aircraft are considered hazardous for air transport and are therefore prohibited.

 

Documents

Before booking your flight, check the following document specifications:

  • Passport expiry date *;
  • Visa expiry date, if necessary *;
  • Vaccine certificate;
  • International driving permit (International Driver´s License);
  • Original identification card for domestic flights and most South American countries insofar as the document is in good condition and contains a photograph of the holder.

* Not necessary if "personalized passenger registration" ("cadastro personalizado do passageiro") has been submitted to Alatur.

Loss of Tickets

On acquiring an airplane ticket, the passenger formalizes a contract between him or herself and the airline company. In case of loss, the passenger must go to the agency that issued the ticket and request a duplicate. If the passenger is in transit, he or she should seek the airline company.

The passenger will sign a statement of responsibility and undertake to reimburse the airline company in case the lost or misplaced ticket is used.

 

Hotels and Vehicle Rental

 

Alatur offers hotel and vehicle rental services in a wide range of national market rates.

To request a hotel booking, the following information is mandatory:

  • Adequate location at destination;
  • Check-in date;
  • Check-out date;
  • Accommodation type (single, double, triple);
  • Accommodation category (standard, superior, luxury, suite);
  • Guest preferences (top floors, non-smoking apartment, sea view, computer connection). You will receive the confirmation voucher (hotel and car rental).

 

Booking Guidelines

Verify Check-in and Check-out time carefully. Observe cancellation terms to avoid no-show charges. For international bookings, provide credit card number, name of holder and expiry date to guarantee the reservation.

For vehicle rental, specify the following:

  • Vehicle type;
  • Needed number of days and return;
  • Pickup location: airport or rental agency;
  • Pickup and return date and time;
  • Insurance type: total or partial.
